Goalpara, May 21, 2023: Assam Police on Tuesday seized cough syrup bottles worth Rs 25 lakhs in Goalpara district. Three persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
The police intercepted two vehicles in the Paikan area and during the search, they found 5075 cough syrup bottles from one vehicle. The market value of the seized cough syrup bottles is estimated at around Rs 25 lakh.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jahangir Alom, Saddam Hussain, and Sahina Yasmin. They are all residents of Goalpara district.
The police said that the accused were allegedly selling the cough syrup bottles illegally. They were using the cough syrup bottles to make drugs.
The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act) and further investigation is underway.

The police have seized the cough syrup bottles and the vehicles. The accused have been produced in court and remanded in police custody.
The police have warned that stern action will be taken against those who are involved in the illegal trade of cough syrup bottles.
