A pregnant professor ends her life; Immoral relationship exposed in court due to husband’s WhatsApp chat

A court in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has denied bail to the husband of a professor who committed suicide due to dowry harassment and her husband’s extra-marital affair.

The professor, Varsha Deepak Naglot, was 29 years old and a professor at the MIT College in the city. She committed suicide on February 3. Her husband Deepak is under arrest in this case since then.

The court took serious note of the evidence of money taken from Varsha’s wife, extramarital affairs and the torture given to her lover, and denied bail to Deepak even after the charge sheet was filed in the crime.

Varsha was seven months pregnant when she committed suicide. A case was registered against her husband Deepak Naglot (age 32 years), father-in-law Rajaram Naglot (age 60 years), mother-in-law Devika (age 55 years), Nanand Vaishali (age 25 years, all of Gajanan Colony) in connection with her suicide.

Despite having a love marriage, Deepak and his father constantly demanded money from Varsha’s wife and took lakhs of rupees. Even after that, Deepak’s extramarital affairs started. From that he started torturing his wife Varsha.

On the day of Varsha’s suicide, Deepak was arrested by Pundliknagar police. The police completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet. He has been seeking bail since his arrest.

The court found that Deepak had taken lakhs of rupees from his wife’s account and that this money was considered as dowry. The court also found that Deepak had put pressure on the witnesses and that this was a serious matter.

The court also took note of the fact that Deepak’s girlfriend had lodged a complaint with the Chikalthana police against his harassment.

The court said that Deepak was a danger to the society and that he should not be released on bail.

The court’s decision has been welcomed by Varsha’s family and friends. They have said that they are happy that Deepak will not be released on bail and that he will be punished for his crimes.

The case has highlighted the issue of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide in India. It is important that women who are being harassed by their in-laws or husbands come forward and report the matter to the police. The police should take these cases seriously and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
