In a disturbing incident, an unidentified autorickshaw driver has been booked by the Pune police for allegedly molesting a 22-year-old woman. The victim was undergoing training at a defence establishment when the incident took place.
According to sources, the woman had hailed an autorickshaw to reach her destination on Friday evening. However, midway through the journey, the driver reportedly started making inappropriate advances towards her. Despite the victim’s protests, the driver continued to harass her until she managed to get out of the vehicle.
The woman immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint against the driver, following which an FIR was registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The Pune police have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused, who is currently at large. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to gather more information about the incident.
The incident has once again highlighted the issue of women’s safety and the need for stricter laws to prevent such incidents from occurring. The authorities have urged citizens to be vigilant and report any such incidents immediately.
