Pune District on Orange Alert for Heavy Rains

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune district for

today and tomorrow, June 27 and 28. This means that heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas is very likely to be reported in the district during this time.

The IMD has also forecast that the monsoon has finally covered the complete state of Maharashtra. This is good news for farmers, as the rains will help to water their crops. However, it is important to be aware of the risks associated with heavy rains, such as flooding and landslides.

The district administration has been asked to be prepared to deal with any eventuality. They have been asked to monitor the situation closely and to take necessary action to ensure the safety of the people.

People living in ghat areas are advised to be cautious and to stay away from rivers and streams. They should also avoid driving through flooded areas.

The IMD has urged people to stay updated with the weather forecast and to follow the instructions of the district administration.

Here are some safety tips for heavy rains:

  • Stay indoors if possible.
  • If you must go out, be sure to wear waterproof clothing and shoes.
  • Avoid driving through flooded areas.
  • If you are caught in a flood, move to higher ground immediately.
  • Do not touch downed power lines.
  • Be aware of the risks of landslides.
