The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to stop water supply in the city every Thursday from May 18, 2023. The decision has been taken in view of the possibility of low rainfall this year.

The water levels in the dams in Pune district are currently low. The water level in the Khadakwasla dam, which is the main source of water for the city, is currently at 75%. The water level in the Panshet dam is at 72%, and the water level in the Varasgaon dam is at 68%.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the monsoon will arrive late this year. The IMD has also predicted that there will be less rain this year even in June.

Against this backdrop, the PMC has decided to stop water supply in the city every Thursday. The water supply will be stopped from 8 pm on Thursday to 8 am on Friday.
