Pune: Police sub-inspector assaulted by collar by going to police station; Katraj police post incident
Pune, June 13: A police sub-inspector (PSI) was assaulted by a man and his mother at the Katraj police chowki on Monday night. The accused, Pritam Chunnilal Pardeshi, and his mother, Laxmi Pardeshi, have been arrested by the Bharati Vidyapeeth police.
The incident took place at around 12.15 am when PSI Nitin Tanaji Jadhav was on duty at the chowki. A man, identified as Akshay Pandurang Malve, came to the chowki and started arguing with Jadhav. Jadhav asked Malve to calm down, but he refused and started shouting.
Pardeshi, who was also present at the chowki, intervened and told Malve to leave. Malve then started arguing with Pardeshi and pushed him away. Pardeshi’s mother then came to his rescue and caught Jadhav’s collar and abused him.
Jadhav lodged a complaint against Pardeshi and his mother at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. The police have arrested the two accused and are further investigating the matter.
The incident has come under scanner as it happened inside a police station. The police have assured that strict action will be taken against the accused.
The incident has also raised questions about the safety of police personnel. The police have urged the public to cooperate with them and not to resort to violence.
