Pune Traffic Police Launches Campaign Against Underage Driving
Underage driving has become a growing concern in Pune, with numerous incidents of accidents involving underage drivers reported in recent months. These incidents not only pose a serious threat to the safety of the underage drivers themselves but also endanger the lives of other road users.
Recognizing the urgency to address this issue, the Pune Traffic Police have taken a proactive step by organizing a comprehensive campaign. As part of the initiative, the police will conduct workshops and awareness programs in schools and colleges across the city to educate young students about the risks associated with underage driving.

The campaign will also target parents and guardians, emphasizing their role in preventing underage driving. Parents will be encouraged to have open conversations with their children about the dangers and legal consequences of getting behind the wheel before reaching the legal driving age. They will be urged to instill responsible attitudes towards road safety and set a good example themselves by strictly adhering to traffic laws.
To ensure effective enforcement, the traffic police will increase surveillance and conduct random checks at various locations known for underage driving incidents. Violators will face strict penalties, including fines, suspension of driving licenses, and in severe cases, legal action.

Additionally, the campaign will make use of social media platforms and other digital channels to reach a wider audience and spread the message against underage driving. Videos, posters, and infographics highlighting the dangers and legal ramifications of underage driving will be shared to create a larger impact among the youth.
Speaking about the campaign, the Commissioner of Pune Traffic Police, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, stated, “Underage driving is a serious issue that not only puts young lives at risk but also threatens public safety. Our aim is to create a culture of responsible driving and discourage this dangerous behavior. We urge parents, schools, and the community to join hands with us in this endeavor and help create safer roads for everyone.”
The Pune Traffic Police’s campaign against underage driving has already garnered support from various stakeholders, including educational institutions, road safety organizations, and concerned citizens. By fostering a collective effort, the campaign aims to bring about a positive change in the mindset of young individuals and reduce the incidents of underage driving in Pune.
As the campaign gains momentum, it is hoped that the efforts of the Pune Traffic Police will lead to a significant decline in underage driving incidents and contribute to making the city’s roads safer for all.
