Veteran Actor Nana Patekar Passes Away at 75; Senior IAS Officer Tukaram Mundhe Pens Emotional Tribute
Goa / Mumbai: Celebrated actor and philanthropist Vishwanath “Nana” Patekar passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 75 following a severe cardiac arrest at his Dona Paula residence in Goa. Known for his fiery screen presence, iconic dialogue delivery, and decades of grassroots social work through the Naam Foundation, his sudden demise has left the country in mourning.
Tributes poured in from cinema icons, political leaders, and administrative figures across India. Among the most touching farewells came from senior IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe, who took to social media to mourn the loss of his close personal friend.
Sharing his grief, Mundhe wrote:
“Nana Patekar is no more. I have lost not merely an exceptional artist, but an extraordinary human being and a dear friend, someone whose warmth and affection touched everyone around him. We spoke just eight days ago. I could never have imagined that it would be our last conversation. His last words to me were: ‘Love you, Bala.’ Those words will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
Over a career spanning nearly five decades, Patekar earned multiple National Film Awards, the Padma Shri, and widespread public respect for his simplicity and commitment to drought-hit farmers across Maharashtra.
