Hyderabad, May 30 (ANI): AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to conduct a surgical strike on China if it has the guts.
Owaisi’s statement came in the wake of Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Hyderabad on Sunday. Shah had said that the steering of the country is in his hand and that he will not allow anyone to disturb peace in Telangana.
Owaisi, however, took a dig at Shah and said that if the steering is in his hand, then why does he feel pain when the AIMIM talks about development in the old city of Hyderabad.

“Crores of rupees were approved for temples and he (Amit Shah) says steering is in my hand. If the steering is in my hand, then why do you feel pain? They say a surgical strike will be done in the old city. Do a surgical strike on China if you have guts,” Owaisi said.
Owaisi also accused the BJP of trying to divide the people of Telangana on communal lines.
“The BJP is trying to divide the people of Telangana on communal lines. They are trying to create a Hindu-Muslim divide in the state. But we will not allow them to succeed,” Owaisi said.

The AIMIM chief’s statement comes at a time when the BJP is trying to make inroads into Telangana. The BJP is hoping to win the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
The AIMIM is a major force in Telangana politics and has been ruling the old city of Hyderabad for over two decades. The party has been critical of the BJP and has accused it of being communal.

The BJP, on the other hand, has accused the AIMIM of being a party of appeasement. The party has said that it will not allow the AIMIM to continue its reign of terror in the old city of Hyderabad.
The upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana are likely to be a closely fought battle between the BJP and the TRS. The AIMIM is also expected to play a key role in the elections.
